Marilynn Ham has been writing arrangements of hymns and sacred songs for years and is very good indeed. Some are quite difficult, but they fit the hands well and can be mastered with a little practise. Highly recommended. Marilynn's arrangements are always interesting and satisfying. She has the knack. This set puts various hymns into settings used in well-known classical pieces and is well done.

This beautiful work is a necessity for anyone interested in classical/sacred piano music. The sacred melodies are thoughtfully integrated into the structure and form of the classical works. The amount of pieces and number of pages also make it worth the price unlike some of the other overpriced materials you often find.

About the Author
Brian Moore was born in Belfast. He emigrated to Canada in 1948 and then moved to California. He twice won the Canadian Governor General's Award for Fiction and has been given a special award from the United States Institute of Arts and Letters. He won the Author's Club First Novel Award for The Lonely Passion of Judith Hearne and the James Tait Black Memorial Prize for The Great Victorian Collection. The Doctor's Wife, The Colour of Blood - winner of the Sunday Express 1988 Book of the Year - and Lies of Silence were all shortlisted for the Booker Prize. Five of his novels have been made into films - The Luck of Ginger Coffey, Catholics, The Lonely Passion of Judith Hearne, Cold Heaven and Black Robe. Brian Moore died in 1999.

How to write in a short span of time!

The author obviously has the right to publish a book like this. His writing skills are great and easy to understand! This book has tons of tips and techniques on how to write a book in a short span of time. I admire Ernst Jones writing and I will definitely follows all his tips.

I am excited to give this a try.

I love reading books, so it is natural for me to fall in love with writing as well. I have a lot of ideas already collected, but I haven't found time to actually wrap them up in a compelling and hopefully bestselling book.

In this book, the author shows us how we can write an awesome book in just 21 days. It might sound too good to be true right initially, but after you get through the book, you will see it is possible. The author not only shares the "how" of things, there are also tips included in the book. It even guides on how to have the book published and get the bestseller status. I like the cheat sheet provided here. I am hoping I can have this cheat sheet printed.

My work as an educational consultant made me aware of the many families needing information in order to make the best choices for their children regarding education.  I did the research over a two-year period, interviewing parents, students, and teachers involved in the seven major types of education available in the US.  These interviews were then analyzed for repeated content, and representative stories were highlighted in the book to make the data more memorable.  The book also contains guiding questions for evaluating various educational settings and the needs of individual children.  I've tried to package what I do as an educational consultant and offer it in book form -- for about 1/5 of what you would pay to talk to me for an hour.  Happy studies!

Yvonna Graham, M.Ed., is an educational consultant and owns Mumbling Marmot Tutoring, LLC in Durango, CO.  She has over 30 years of experience in education and has personally experienced all seven styles of education described in the this book.

We have twins about to enter school age and have been trying to look at our options. This book really helped me understand the variety of choices out there, and the differences between them. I liked reading the stories about each families experiences and the resources she included were very helpful. This is a must read if you have school age kids.

Who is this book for?

I find this book frustrating.

The presentation is very poor. Topics are broached willy-nilly with paltry discussion. Sometimes it's just plain laughable. For example, Box 1.3, discussing the particle in the box: "There is one further restriction that we shall simply state: the boundary condition for the particle in the box is that [the wavefunction] must be zero when x=0 and x=a." Instead of a simple statement of this and expecting the student to take it on authority, why not give the *reason* for these boundary conditions, which can be summarized in a single sentence, i.e. 'the wavefunction must be continuous with the region outside the box, which is also zero'? Another example from the first chapter: the section "Ground state electronic configurations: experimental data". After I read this section I couldn't help but think to myself "where's the experimental data? what was the point of this section?"

Which leads to my second criticism: who is this book for? It's too advanced for undergraduates and not advanced enough for graduates. This book attempts to be all-things-to-all-people, in my opinion, which makes it good for no one. It's as though the authors took an undergraduate text and added a few more bits here and there, sporadically, without rhyme or reason. This may or may not be the reason that this book weighs SIX pounds. The authors tried to shoe-horn too much into this book.

Finally, the aesthetics of the book are atrocious. The color scheme used is distracting and hard on the eyes. Dark primary colors and light pastels on the same page?!? On some pages you can count up to six different colors used for separate things. I feel like my eyes are being pulled every direction and find it difficult to concentrate on the text.

However, I do feel like this book may be a good review book. Do you need to freshen up on a wide variety of inorganic chemistry topics without going too much into detail on every topic? This text may indeed suite that purpose very well.

But, being a grad student and having been assigned this book, I have found that in reading it I'm viewing material that is either far too basic and general and therefore a waste of my time or I'm given insufficient details for true understanding when it comes to advanced material. This is why I find this text frustrating and have given it two stars. If it weren't for the encyclopedic nature of the text, it would have received only one star.

When I first took inorganic as an undergrad, I didn't think that this book was clear enough. As a stand-alone text, it was not adequate. However, once I paired it with Shriver and Atkins, many of the holes were filled in. (Interestingly, Shriver/Atkins alone wasn't adequate either). They needed to be paired- particularly when studying M-O diagrams and lattices etc. I would also recommend Metal-Ligand Bonding by Janes and Moore. This combination was my elixir...my inorganic triumvirate. Hope this helps.

Very useful textbook!

I knew this book will take most of my time out of my other courses I am taking. The book is very compact and huge, which is why I knew it will be a very complicated textbook that my professor chose. Once I began my assignment, the chapters were neatly organized and easy to comprehend. I thought it will take me numerous of times to understand the sections of the chapter, but at the end of each section are quick worked-out problems and practice questions to review at the end of each section. I was very satisfied with the review portion of the textbook. If I had any questions I used the section highlighted terms and Google or looked up on YouTube. The information online and videos closely related to the textbook material and I was able to get back on track. I will definitely recommend this textbook as a reference or if a professor is taking any recommendations. This will help a lot in the long run.

This work has a stronger narrative line than textbooks that often consist of case reports stitched together without any discussion of "black letter" law. Each case is introduced and placed within its larger social and legal context. The cases are streamlined versions designed to be comprehensible to ordinary readers while still conveying both the content and the philosophy of the opinion writer and major dissenters (if any). The book does away with many historical discussions, except where a discussion of history is needed to understand unique aspects of the American legal system. The style and organization of the book reflect the authors' 30 years of experience teaching law to both native speakers of English and students to whom English is a second language. In a word, the book is accessible to a wide range of readers and it is practical and useable in the classroom.

not bad, but not particularly good...

I was a little disappointed with this book.
I enjoy Paddy Barclay - he's a fantastic journalist and enjoyable to listen to on 'the game' podcast. Maybe that's why this biography disappointed me. The writing is fine, and I should admit that I continually picked the book up and read it quickly to completion. There's certainly something to be said for that. But I'm a target audience being a United supporter and admirer of Sir Alex.
Paddy seemed handcuffed writing this book.
He failed to provide any real insight into Sir Alex aside from what is common knowledge. The author made sure the reader knew that Barclay had personal interactions with Ferguson, but seemed take no position outside of the accepted view that Ferguson is successful / complicated / inconsistent et al. I'm guessing that all who read this book already knew that and were hoping for a bit more.
The book really flatlines in the final third where the author begins to recite relatively recent fixture results with, again, little analysis or insight into matters that aren't common knowledge.
The book awkwardly ends with the chapter "Where Stands He?", where Barclay compares Sir Alex with other famous managers and explains that his position in Barclay's subjective hierachy is lowerer than other managers like Stein, Clough and (even) Mourinho. It's not that Barclay is necessarily incorrect, it's just surprising that he suddenly has an opinion.
In the author's defense, Ferguson has to be about as complicated of a sporting personality to write about - but if the perspective of the story is "He's complicated" with little analysis as to why, what's the point in writing the book?

Disappointing and a bit irritating

I found this book disappointing and irritating on two fronts: content and style.
Content: This is not so much a biography of Sir Alex Ferguson as a potted history of Aberdeen and Man Utd when SAF was in charge. There's a difference that the author doesn't seem to appreciate. And as it was published in 2010 you can't expect the full history. Too much of the content is padded out with descriptions of long ago matches and league table movements that have faded interest for even a die-hard Man Utd fan like me. Frequent long passages along the lines of Giggs passed to Yorke, who chipped to Cole who headed passed the goalie, etc., tells us very little about SAF the man. For a supposed biography, there is way too little description of the life and doings of SAF, and not enough insight to what makes him tick, and what there is is often referenced from another author's biography.
Style: One thing in particular annoys me about the writing style of this author. Time and again he starts a sentence, then after only half a clause he has an oh-by-the-way moment and goes off on a tangent before returning sometime later to finish what he started. By that time, I've often become so lost in the rambling tangential information that I have to reread the start of the sentence to see what the end is about. If this literary device was infrequent it could be excused, but Barclay uses it over and over and over again, to the annoyance of this reviewer - so annoyed that it has spoiled my enjoyment of the book. I was also irritated by the mangled quotation `the truth that dare not speak its name'.
Conclusion: Not a page-turner, but useful if you're such a fan of Sir Alex that you want this book as a component of a complete set of reference material about him.

Ferguson the Man

Very honest look at Alex Ferguson story,more so then Alex owen book. I would say it is more acurate with dates and happenings then you will fined in his book.Great inside to the great man and what makes him tick.Talks to people who got on well with him, and also to a lot of people who did not.So you can see that it is not sugar coated in favour of Alex, he is what he is that what makes him the man and the Great Manager that we know. GOOD READ.
