Richard Bingham is an applications architect currently working in the Oracle Developer Relations Team, helping customers and partners build customizations, extensions, and integrations on the Oracle Fusion Applications platform. Richard joined Oracle in 1999 and, prior to moving to Oracle Product Development, was part of Oracle Support, delivering and developing support services across a range of applications products, with a large percentage of time devoted to Oracle E-Business Suite. He is a certified ITIL V3 practitioner, a member of the Chartered Institute of Management, and an accredited assessor for the UK Institute of Customer Services, awarding professional certifications to a wide range of organizations. Richard is the author of Managing Oracle Fusion Applications.

A good book to understand Oracle EBS and Enterprise Architecture in general

I was looking for a book to open my eyes on Oracle E-Business Suite. I don't know too much on Oracle EBS, as I have a technology background (DB&MW) with some pl/sql experience. I was reticent on this book as I thought is too advanced for me. The title wouldn't recommend it for a beginner on EBS, tips and techniques implies that I should already know something.
As soon as I’ve received it and I started to glance on it, and I was very happy that I had got it. It has some introduction from an architecture perspective on EBS, which I was looking for. Then it has something that the author calls „toolboxes”, which are the five core principles for enterprise application model: reliability, availability, performance, governance, and optimization. The authors which are both architects go in every of this hats that an arhitect should wear and develop the principle it based on Oracle EBS specificity. In the last two chapters some best practices are presented with the tips applied to EBS, a little bit cheesy but still useful for a beginner especially.
I think this book addresses the Oracle Application Architects, and the authors are sharing their experience in this role in a very easy and interesting way. Also other IT Enterprise Architects on other technologies (i.e. JAVA) can learn a lot from it, despite the fact that examples are on Oracle EBS.
